How to Use Indian Attars for Meditation and Spiritual Growth

The story of Indian attars dates back five thousand years, and goes back from the beginning of perfumery. Because they are made in such a way, they are unique to any other perfume anywhere in the world. They hold the essence of the flowers as well as of Mother Earth herself. Before the term "aromatherapy" was coined people were aware of the healing qualities of attars. For instance, Gulab, or Rose Attar is a feminine support for women on every level. Mitti attar can be an energizer and is calming. Kewda helps to clear useful for cognitive fatigue and blocks to creativity. Since the beginning of time, Attars have also been used to improve spiritual development and meditation. They continue to be useful in these areas even to this day. The olfactory area that is part of our brain totally obstructs the part that thinks and brain. If you are having difficulty staying focused and centered wearing an attar could be the perfect solution to bring a peaceful and relaxing experience. If you are fortunate enough to are able to meditate easily attars are a great way to take it to the highest level. Here are a few of my personal favorites to meditate on: Also known by the name of "Oil of Peace", Vetiver is refreshing and calming. In India the pure, hydrodistilled oil from Vetiver is referred to as Ruh Khus. It is very strong and can be more enjoyable when dilute by 10-15% in jojoba oil. It is a deep emerald green. this oil is a stunning one that can help clear your confused mind and guide you to a quiet, calm center. Genda Attar can be made of simple marigolds made of orange and gold, but its scent is delightfully "green"! Genda is used to create curtains and garlands that assist in cleansing the air around it. If worn, you experience its purifying effects in the sinuses and lungs. While wearing Genda you might notice yourself taking deep, long breathes (inspiring) and without exertion. This is why Genda can be a great aid in pranayama which is breathing exercise. It can help us to feel "inspired"! It is possible that you have heard of Nag Champa incense, made by the golden flowers of the Michelia Champaka tree. A plant "cousin" for the magnolia, these golden flowers emit a sweet fragrant, sweet, etheric scent. These majestic trees are stunning, so loved and adored that they are frequently placed near temples in order to scent the air around them. When it is worn as an attar the sandalwood base provides Champa an evenness and depth that's truly stunning. To help you meditate, Champa Attar assists in reconnecting us to Divine Abundance and Love. Another incredible attar to meditate is one that has been around for a while: White Lotus Attar. It has only been in the last few years that people had the ability to extract the mysterious aroma oil from lotus flowers. There are three types of lotus flowers utilized for oil production: blue, pink and white. This writer finds White Lotus to be most attractive for both as a scent as well as a tool for meditation. Of the three Lotus perfumes, White Lotus is the one with the strongest etheric impact in the head. It directly affects the chakra of the Crown. It activates the chakra of the crown and keeps your focus there, so meditation is effortless. The aroma that is present in White Lotus with Sandalwood oil is also a source of an energetic balance of grounding and etheric energies. This is why White Lotus Attar is a great aid to astral projection and other psychic activities
